Corona hygiene measures and access regulations

To ensure that you can learn safely on site with us, the regulations of the current Corona Protection Ordinance also apply to all our events and courses. 
In case of Corona-specific symptoms of illness, please stay at home and do not come to the VHS. This is not the same as a cancellation in the sense of the Fee and Usage Regulations.

How do the 3G/2G/2G-Plus access regulations work?

In accordance with the Corona Protection Ordinance, VHS Köln applies the 3G, 2G or 2G-Plus regulations, depending on the event and the associated risk of infection. Without appropriate proof, it is not possible to visit the VHS buildings or other teaching locations of VHS Köln. The 3G rule applies when visiting the customer center and the info desk.

3G Regulation
If your course or event is subject to the 3G regulation, you will need one of the following certificates:
  • Vaccinated persons: proof of complete vaccination (second vaccination at least 14 days ago).
  • Recovered persons: medical evidence of infection at least 28 days, but no longer than 90 days ago.
  • Vaccinated recovered: persons who have had a confirmed Covid-19 infection and have received at least one vaccination before or after.
  • Negative PCR test (maximum 48 hours old) 
  • Negative rapid test (maximum 24 hours old) from an official testing site. Self-tests will not be accepted. 

2G Regulation
If your course or event is subject to the 2G regulation, you will need one of the following certificates:
  • Vaccinated persons: proof of complete vaccination (second vaccination at least 14 days ago).
  • Recovered persons: medical evidence of infection at least 28 days, but no longer than 90 days ago.
  • Vaccinated recovered: persons who have had a confirmed Covid-19 infection and have received at least one vaccination before or after.

2G-Plus Regulation
You belong to one of the following groups of people and have the appropriate certificates:
  • Vaccinated and tested: Persons who have full vaccination protection (second vaccination at least 14 days ago) and also present a negative PCR test (maximum 48 hours old) or negative rapid test (maximum 24 hours old) from an official testing center. Self-tests in self-testing will not be accepted.
  • Boostered: persons who have had a booster vaccination ("booster"),
  • Vaccinated recovered: persons who have had a confirmed Covid-19 infection and have received at least one vaccination before or after,
  • Freshly vaccinated: persons between days 15 and 90 after their second vaccination,
  • Freshly recovered: persons who tested positive for PCR between 28 and 90 days ago.
Exceptions 
In areas where 2G-Plus applies, testing is not required for boostered persons, vaccinated recovered persons, newly vaccinated persons (between the 15th and 90th day after the second vaccination), and newly recovered persons (between the 28th and 90th day after the positive PCR test).

Equal to immunized persons are:
  • Children and adolescents up to and including 15 years of age.
  • Persons with a doctor's certificate stating that they cannot be vaccinated against COVID-19 at present or until a date not more than six weeks ago for health reasons.
  • Pregnant women upon presentation of their maternity record. Presentation of a certified test is sufficient for participation in 2G events (PCR test max. 48 hours old, rapid test max. 24 hours).
Equal to tested persons are:
  • Children up to the age of school entry. Pupils are considered as tested persons due to their participation in the mandatory school tests, a school certificate is considered as proof.

Which regulation applies to my course?

Language courses and integration courses
  • In integration courses, the 3G rule applies: courses with starting number -426.
  • In literacy and basic education courses, the 3G rule applies.
  • In the courses "German as a foreign language" (DaF) as well as in the subsequent language tests the 3G-rule applies.
  • In naturalization tests, the 3G rule applies.
  • In the language courses "Business English", the 3G-rule applies: starting number -431.
  • In sign language courses, the 2G-Plus rule applies: starting number -405. This also applies to courses that take place as educational leave.
  • In all other language courses, the 2G rule applies.

Vocational education and educational leave
  • In the courses of professional education the 3G-rule applies: courses with starting number -5, -6 and -431 as well as in-service training courses: Systemic Counseling, Mediation, Neurolinguistic Programming (NLP), and Nonviolent Communication (NVC).
  • The 3G regulation also applies to courses conducted as educational leave. Exception: In sign language courses, the 2G-Plus rule applies.

Qualification and employment promotion
  • In all job-related projects and in all courses of job-related German language support, the 3G regulation applies.

Health Education
  • In indoor movement and relaxation courses, the 2G-Plus rule applies: courses with starting number -2.
  • In outdoor movement and relaxation courses, the 2G rule applies.
  • In indoor dance courses, the 2G-Plus rule applies: courses with starting number -365, -366-, -367, -368 and -369.
  • In all other health, exercise and relaxation courses, the 2G rule applies.

Cultural Education
  • The 2G-Plus rule applies to choir members singing together, playing wind instruments together, and other musical activities that can only be performed without wearing a mask.
  • In theater courses as well as similar artistic activities that can only be performed without wearing a mask, the 2G-Plus rule applies.
  • In indoor dance courses, the 2G-Plus rule applies: courses with starting number -365, -366-, -367, -368 and -369.
  • In all other Cultural Education courses, the 2G rule applies. 

Political Education
  • In the courses and individual events of Political Education, the 3G rule applies: courses with the starting number -11, -13 or -16. 
  • For events in the FORUM Volkshochschule in the museum building at Neumarkt, the 2G rule applies.

Other events
  • Events such as guided tours, excursions, readings, concerts, environmental education outdoors (e.g. at Thurner Hof) and all individual events that do not belong to Political Education (see above) are subject to the 2G rule. This applies to both indoor and outdoor events.
  • For events in the FORUM Volkshochschule in the museum building at Neumarkt, the 2G regulation applies.

Please have your corresponding proof/certificate and a photo ID ready when you visit VHS Köln. The check takes place on the premises.

Mandatory face masks

Wearing a face mask is mandatory at your seat during the course or event and in consultations. Ideally, please wear an FFP2 mask for your own safety.

Persons who cannot wear a mask for medical reasons are exempt from the mask requirement. This must be proven by a medical certificate. 

Please note the following exceptions for certain courses! 
 
In general
When communicating with deaf and hard of hearing people, the mask can be removed. 

Language courses
Participants and lecturers in sign language courses may wear a face shield or face visor at their seat during class.

Vocational training/EDP courses
The EDP rooms (EDV-Räume) in the KOMED building in Mediapark 7 are equipped with air-conditioning systems which provide ventilation. Since this teaching location is thus well ventilated and there is sufficient distance between the seats, the mask requirement can be waived here.

Health, exercise and relaxation courses
In exercise and relaxation courses, the mask can be removed once your are settled in your spot. This applies to both indoor and outdoor courses. 

Please bring your own gym mat to all exercise and relaxation classes.

Cultural Education/Music, Singing, Dance
In music courses with wind instruments or instruments that can only be played without a mask, the mask can be removed at your seat or while playing the instrument. In singing courses, the mask may be removed while singing. In music courses WITHOUT singing and WITHOUT wind instruments or any instruments that require taking off the mask, there is an obligation to wear a medical mask. In dance courses, the mask may be removed while dancing.

Safety distance

Please keep a sufficient distance from other people and remain in your seats during class. 
Furthermore, the distance of 1.50 meters between the seats in the classroom or the floor mats in the sports rooms are guaranteed.

Number of participants

We adjust the number of participants to the respective valid Corona protection regulation. This ensures sufficient distance during our courses. 

The rooms are ventilated before, during and after lessons or events. Our EDP rooms in the KOMED building in Mediapark 7 are equipped with air conditioning systems which provide ventilation. Since this teaching location is thus well ventilated and there is sufficient distance between the seats, the mask requirement can be waived here.

Hygiene measures

Wash your hands regularly and thoroughly. Disinfectant is also available in the entrance areas of our buildings.

Please clean your table, keyboard, mouse, etc. with the disinfectant wipes provided.
